Review : Stay with me – Jennifer L. Armentrout

At 21, Calla hasn’t done a lot of things. She’s never been kissed, never seen the ocean, never gone to an amusement park. But growing up, she witnessed some things no child ever should. She still carries the physical and emotional scars of living with a strung-out mother, Mona—secrets she keeps from everyone, including her close circle of college friends.

But the safe cocoon Calla has carefully built is shattered when she discovers her mom has stolen her college money and run up a huge credit card debt in her name. Now, Calla has to go back to the small town she thought she’d left behind and clean up her mom’s mess again. Of course, when she arrives at her mother’s bar, Mona is nowhere to be found. Instead, six feet of hotness named Jackson James is pouring drinks and keeping the place humming.

Sexy and intense, Jax is in Calla’s business from the moment they meet, giving her a job and helping her search for Mona. And the way he looks at her makes it clear he wants to get horizontal . . . and maybe something more. Before Calla can let him get close, though, she’s got to deal with the pain of the past—and some very bad guys out to mess her up if she doesn’t give them her mom.

My review :

As addicted to this series, i had to read it! I wanted to know more about Calla since the last book. She was totally mysterious.
It was very strange to see her between her friends, feeling that she didn’t belong. She was like a bystander watching everyone being happy, in love, move on. She has an ugly past and can’t open to people because she’s too scared, ashamed. When she came back home, after her mother stole all her money, she met Jax, a sexy, hot, handsome bartender, working at her mother’s bar. Her mother is MIA.
All i can say that i was drawn to the story. Calla created a bubble, her own world. It makes her safe. What surprises me that Jackson (Jax) was intense with her since their « first » encounter. He’s not disgusted by her looks or her scar, hidden under make up. It’s like he knew her, can see through her.
The story was sweet, steamy ,had a lot of hot moments and drama (all kind of crazy i mean)!!
I really enjoyed their chemistry and how Jax always stands for her, protect her no matter what. He knows how to act like a man! Calla is the other hand is totally « dumb » to relationships and unexperienced! (It was kind of cute that she experienced all her firsts with Jax) *SWOON*
When they had a moment of happiness, and BAM drama time! The story had not time out, always altering between joyful, sweet, love moments to drama, Calla and Jax issues’. I’m wondering how Callie can survived through all of this, without no help and someone to rely on.
I was happy to see all the characters from the others books. They welcomed her, supported her, and saw her in a new way. I love them all!!! They’re all great friends!
This romance, about two wrecked souls trying to survive into this world, researching for happiness, love was very emotional and was a little different from the others, especially by the story putting into more action. J. Armentrout initiate the next story and i can’t wait for this one too! Great series, great story, great everything!
