Loch Powers was the hottest guy I’d ever seen in my entire life.
And I hated him with every fiber of my being.
I’d practically known him since birth. Heck, we’d literally shared a crib as babies at his mom’s daycare.
Then I’d crushed on him hard when we hit middle school but he wouldn’t give geeky, glasses-wearing me the time of day. When his mom made him take me to the sixth grade dance, he’d humiliated me and I vowed to never talk to him again.
The next year when my family moved away, I told myself that if I never saw him again it’d be too soon.
Now I’m back and attending the same college, but I’m no longer the skinny, ugly girl who was so infatuated with him. And I’m so over him it’s not even funny.
But now that I’m no longer the ugly duckling, he’s set his sights on me, and I’m just not sure what to do with that.

« La vengeance est un plat qui se mange froid. »
Loch is book three of the Powers That Be series, each one is about one of the brothers. 4 brothers : Gable, Zeke, Ryker and Loch. I really love this series about these guys and how the stories are build.
Each of them found their match and this time it’s Loch to be hooked. Second chance at love, with a hint of revenge, a lot of hard feelings. Sexy, emotional and hilarious at times!
A girl (Simone) with hard feelings for her former best friend, who publicily humiliated her in middle school. Years after, she couldn’t get over it, and when the time comes to seek revenge, things get messed up. Simone and Loch were best friends, and raised together. Their friendship was shattered when Loch acted like a stupid boy and ruined everything.
The nerdy girl changed for the best, and Simone wasn’t the girl she was before. For instance, even Loch didn’t recognize her. She’s full of life, a great friend but has a weak spot when it comes to Loch. The wounds are still there and even if they didn’t see each other for years, the resentment is still there.
Loch is a player like all this brothers, sure of his charms, man-whore, always with a girl not far.
When he met Simone, without knowing who she really was, we can see his flirty side, but also how he gets attached to her. He was attracted and showing her that he cared, which confused Simone. Close to his family, he was always taking care of them.
Sometimes, his hot-tempered side takes over. He can be sweet and gentle for a minute then turning into a complete ass. He’s so stubborn and when he has something in mind, you can’t turned him down. I have to say that Loch really surprised me here, in every levels and I have definitely a spot for him.
The chemistry between them was awesome but I was kinda bothered that he didn’t have an ounce of suspicion about Simone, when he met her. I know that he haven’t seen her for so many years, but I could be interesting for the plot to have also some recognition from Loch. It didn’t but the author handle it very well, picking some interest. When the lines are blurred and Simone’s feelings for Loch get in the way, I waited for the moment where the truth comes out.
And once again, Harper Bentley has her way to surprise us.
I liked the author writing’s style, with her way to add twists showing how the Powers brothers are utterly crazy and so stubborn! They have their way to get back to their girls and each time it makes me smile. There’s a lot of back and forth; with Simone and Loch kinda stuck in the past, but at the same time grew up. From best friends to enemies, then to lovers, the story can be easily read in one sitting and the characters are likable. I can’t wait for the next one, Ryker!
I wished we have more of Loch’s POV because one chapter wasn’t enough!!
