Book four and now it’s time for Andy and Faye. Co-owners of Club Explicit and as you might guess … with a lot of “Dirty Secrets”.
I have to confess that I was a little scared about their story. Knowing Jade West’s writing, this one would be huge and with a high level of hardcore BDSM.
Back to the roots of the place where each of the characters met, Club Explicit is a pillar for each story. This story is more significant of the value of the place for Andy and Faye.
I read the book with a state of shock, sometimes a little bit disgusted, and afraid for the next move. I love how Jade West can challenge the readers to get out of their comfort zone, always pushing the limits further. But damn this one was TOO MUCH to handle to me.
I’m not a prude and since I read the other books and I loved them, I was from the beginning struggling to connect with the characters. The more I was reading, the more the gap was expanding. I tried to read it with an open mind but there were situations involving constant humiliation and at times more than brutal.
What about Andy and Faye?? No connexion to me. So much hatred from Andy, and I get it but something felt off with this character, to return Faye’s own medicine. Faye was too much, drama queen, like a spoiled child, wanting everything right now. Even if I appreciated how smart she was about business, I didn’t either connect with her.
They were meant to be together, to be destructive to each other to reach their happiness, to be finally everything to each other. A destructive path of pushing the limits, always more, all or nothing.
It didn’t work for me at all, this one was pushing my buttons too far. The Dirty Bad Secrets wasn’t a big deal after all, but I have to say that Jade West is very creative on the plot and can write some very erotic scenes at the same time disturbing and twisted but fascinating.
I enjoyed seeing the other characters from the series and James, the freaking beast was my hero here. Yep, I’m not afraid anymore.
Even if this book wasn’t right up my alley, I’m very impressed about Jade West’s sense of imagination and creativity. Only this author could write stories this way.
