Samuel Clearwater, A.K.A Preppy, likes bowties, pancakes, suspenders, good friends, good times, good drugs, and a good f*ck.
He’s worked his way out from beneath a hellish childhood and is living the life he’s always imagined for himself. When he meets a girl, a junkie on the verge of ending it all, he’s torn between his feelings for her and the crippling fear that she could be the one to end the life he loves.
Andrea ‘Dre’ Capulet is strung out and tired.
Tired of living for her next fix. Tired of doing things that make her stomach turn. Tired of looking in the mirror at the reflection of the person she’s become. Just when she decides to end it all, she meets a man who will change the course of both their lives forever.
And their deaths.
For most people, death is the end of their story.
For Preppy and Dre, death was only the beginning.
This is the fifth book in the King Series and it’s meant to be read after Soulless.

I was expecting this book for so long, since the first moment I met Preppy I was intrigued and obsessed by this character. All Preppy on the outside with his bowtie and suspenders but a monster on the inside, surrounded by a joyful and so endearing side. A complex man, whose journey through life and death was just mind blowing.
Samuel Clearwater is a memorable guy. I read this book in one sitting, utterly captivated by all the emotional, tensed pace of the story. Being in his mind was something else. Shattered and tortured, he was trying to fight his demons. Sure he wasn’t a good guy but when it comes to the ones he loves, nothing else matters. To Live or to die, he was the master of his life, no matter what happens.
Andrea was lost, a drug addict. Reading about how she was bruised, destroyed and helpless broke my heart. Nothing in this book is gentle, trust me, and she wasn’t spared by the choices she made in her life. Cheater, liar, but with the need to find someone she can rely on, she was a tough woman, who was well aware of her weakness and her flaws.
When two tortured and twisted people met, you know that sparks would fly but the collateral damages?? Just wow.
In their darkness they found each other. Not under the best circumstances, but it was really fascinating about the way the story was told. I enjoyed the direct and restlessness tone.
This book was addictive. I couldn’t and I wouldn’t put it down. It was rough, violent and totally insane and dealing with some twisted and mental issues.
In all this mess, I could feel the love. Two people, prisoners of their souls finally found a way to love someone, truly, madly and deeply.
