Synopsis:

Jack Valentini isn’t my type.

Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave.

Jack might be gorgeous, but he’s also scruffy, rugged, and rude. He wants nothing to do with a “rich city girl” like me, and he isn’t afraid to say so.

But I’ve got a PR job to do for his family’s farm, so he’s stuck with me for ten days, and I’m stuck with him. His glares. His moods. His tight jeans. His muscles.

His huge, hard muscles.

Pretty soon there’s a whole different kind of tension between us, the kind that has me misbehaving in barns, trees, and pickup trucks. I’ve never done anything so out of character—but it feels too good to stop.

And the more I learn about the grieving ex-Army sergeant, the better I understand him. Losing his wife three years ago left him broken and bitter and blaming himself. He doesn’t think he deserves a second chance at happiness.

But he’s wrong.

I don’t need to be his first love. If only he’d let me be his last.

“Second chances are not given to make things right, but are given to prove that we could be even better after we fall.” —Unknown

ReviewBlog

After We Fall was a sweet, sexy and smoking hot romance. The story of Jack Valentini the broody and handsome widow and Margot Lewiston, the enthusiastic and charming PR hired to help them. And oh my, sparks will fly, literally!

I had this huge smile on my face. Jack and Margot’s banter was off the charts. From the moment they met and collided, not in the better way, until the moment when hate and anger became something more, turn into this intense and passionate relationship.

Jack is the sexy smoking hot charmer that could swept any woman off their feet. Widow and ex military, his demons and scars were far from healed. Broody, straightforward and not very social, he truly thought that he didn’t deserve any second chance and had to live in that constant pain and sorrow. Until Margot came and almost destroyed all his walls. Damn if that guy was as infuriating as endearing.

Margot is a great character, a living in her bubble but little by little discovering herself in a way while staying in the Valentini’s farm, re evaluating her life. I liked her enthusiasm, spontaneous side, it was so refreshing and endearing. She could make fun of herself, and her inner conversations were priceless. She was colorful. A beautiful rainbow falling hard for Jack, the taciturn and angry guy.

I was talking about sparks and that book was full of them. I liked how challenging and how the author build this intense sexual tension until the moment it exploded and damn it, it was beyond hot and totally exciting. I’ve got hotness for sure but when you put on the sex parts some dirty and rough scenes, well it was definitely right up my alley.

I enjoyed the rollercoaster of emotions, when the characters felt real, the feelings and emotions raw and so beautifully written. Jack’s scars and struggles to move on were great shown, even if sometimes he acted like a complete jerk but he knew how to apologize when he was wrong. Just trying to find a way to breathe again even if he wasn’t looking for it.

Stubborn but worth to fight for. I liked how the two characters were so different in their lifestyle, bringing the best of each other. The way to find happiness might be tough and a turmoil of emotions to come, making them scared due to the intensity of their feelings but when you know it’s right, you have to seize the opportunity and never let it go. Fight for it. And find the one who will always catch you when you fall.
