AL Jackson knows how to write emotional stories, filled with intense passion, angst, and sexual tension. This is my second book from this author and I got hooked until the end. Damn she is good.
It was a beautiful story about finding your way back to the light, to show the way back to love, when all you ever knew was heartbreak, deception and loss. When Rynna and Rex collided, their lives would never be the same.
As a single dad, his daughter was everything he had, guarding his heart and utterly protective of her, she was the ray of light who brightened his dark days. Moody, not really social, people used to his personality, no one succeeded to break the walls, until Corinne “Rynna” Dayne.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a character with such compassion and persistence. After all she went through, she still had the strength to be brave, to finally stand for her and follow her dreams. Coming back after a few years of running away, she wasn’t expected to find love to the next door.
A man who seemed to be angry all the time. Like she could understand his pain and hurt through this eyes.
I had to say that story drove me a little crazy, I was swimming through such an intense emotional turmoil, almost sinking across the ups and downs.
The constant tension going on here kept me captivated.
The emotional vibes… the way Rex was clinging to his little girl, the only good thing that felt right in his life even if it was overprotective was moving. His secluded life made him push people away and his new neighbor didn’t seem to get the memo. Blurring the lines, the need to be with Rynna, trying so hard to ignore the feelings that he haven’t felt before.
I couldn’t have been more intense if there wasn’t a bit of drama, and even if I am not really a big fan of it, it was really well-rounded, surprising and adding some great suspense. Just made me so freaking emotional.
It was definitely a solid 4 stars to me and I can’t wait to read the next books.
