My name is Cassidy Porter…

My father, Paul Isaac Porter, was executed twenty years ago for the brutal murder of twelve innocent girls.

Though I was only eight-years-old at the time, I am aware – every day of my life – that I am his child, his only son.

To protect the world from the poison in my veins, I live a quiet life, off the grid, away from humanity.

I promised myself, and my mother, not to infect innocent lives with the darkness that swirls within me, waiting to make itself known.

It’s a promise I would have kept…if Brynn Cadogan hadn’t stumbled into my life.

Now I exist between heaven and hell: falling for a woman who wants to love me, while all along reminding myself that I must remain…

Unloved.

What a story… it was poignant and telling the story of Cassidy and Brynn. The plot was intriguing and captivating. Add some magnificent scenery places in Maine and the mood was settled.

Unloved by Katy Regnery was a story that moved me and hooked me until the end.

The atmosphere was suspenseful, tense and a large part of emotions was running wild, boiling.

The plot was well-rounded and I couldn’t stop until the last pages.

Brynn and Cassidy met under tragic circumstances. As his father’s legacy, Cassidy couldn’t get closer to anyone or had to remain quiet, discreet but also unloved. Raised by others’ beliefs, that the life he knew. That how he had to stay. His DNA would ruin anyone too close to him.

Brynn intrigued Cassidy the moment he met her. Fascinated and attracted by someone for the first time, she put in perspective everything he’s been told, challenging him with feelings he shouldn’t have.

Living both isolated lives in their own way, their meeting was definitely the trigger event of a turning point, about two people who had their share of losses, pain and sorrow. Their connection was instantaneous.

Their experiences brought them closer, they learnt about each other and especially themselves. More that should have known. Awaking in both feelings in a powerful way, but was it going to destroy them in the process?

Their story took place behind closed doors, emphasizing the emotional, through ups and downs. It’s powerful, sincere and passionate but also sweet and tender at times. A slow burn romance with a hint of suspense and mystery, enhancing the psychological depth of the characters.
