The army taught me discipline. Order. Control.
None of that matters the day I walk into her classroom.
Or her bedroom.
What’s more important than my grade?
Not failing her.

About the Author
Leslie McAdam is a California girl who loves romance, Little Dude, and well-defined abs. She lives in a drafty old farmhouse on a small orange tree farm in Southern California with her husband and two small children. Leslie always encourages her kids to be themselves – even if it means letting her daughter wear leopard print from head to toe. An avid reader from a young age, she will always trade watching TV for reading a book, unless it’s Top Gear. Or football. Leslie is employed by day but spends her nights writing about the men you fantasize about. She’s unapologetically sarcastic and notoriously terrible at comma placement (that’s what editors are for!). Always up for a laugh, Leslie tries to see humor in all things. When she’s not in the writing cave you’ll find her fangirling over Beck, camping with her family, or mixing up oil paints to depict her love of outdoors on canvas.

Leslie McAdam is magical. I like how her books can be so deceptive. I mean, the cover is smoking hot, the title was nothing to lead into some kind of sadness, but still, when I started to read it, my heart burst, so many feelings going on here.
Trent won my heart from the beginning. Not because of his very hot good looks but about his soul. Sweet, kind, caring and giving to his loved ones, with a darkness, a wounded man who has so much love to offer. Facing the truth and mostly aware of his flaws and scars. His POV was written with such sincerity, gripping and raw, without pretense. The inner battle is going to be tough but damn… my heart.
I was impressed by the balance between the painful moments, to the happiest ones switching to the sexy bits and to mostly the emotional moments, the ones that would blow my mind. I was feeling so much, in a simple way, telling us a story of two broken souls dealing with their grieving.
I loved the angst and the passion, to read about the way they were processing as individuals and also as a couple. How they get reunited and finally found each other after all these years, how they had been in love for all lives. They weren’t beating around the bush, they weren’t perfect but together they shone. An explosion of fireworks.
Their connection was so well written, incredibly beautiful. It felt right in spite of the circumstances. There’s no such beautiful thing that to give your heart to someone who’s willing to treasure it and take care of it. To fight back when life is hard, to support you no matter what.
I had tears in my eyes. The way the author conveyed emotions speaks to my soul. Right in the feels and in my heart. I appreciated the spontaneous tone, the upfront side, seeing their scars and fears in the open, we weren’t there to be spared, it gave us something significant and relevant without being pompous. To let you feel when the characters unlocked their feelings, such in a powerful way.
I adored the spiritual and really introspective side of this book, the peacefulness and also tormenting side. This was so much more than what it looked like and I enjoyed the journey. I was transported. There was something about the atmosphere, the place, the characters, a feeling of intensity but with a certain lightness. It was inspiring.
