Publishing Date:  October 24th, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the nanny.

When my wife left, she took the illusion of happiness with her, and I’ve been caught in a free fall ever since. For nine long months, I’ve been fighting to figure out how to be a single dad, how to be alone.

For nine long months, I’ve been failing.

When Hannah walked through the door, I took my first breath since I’d found myself on my own. She slipped into our lives effortlessly, showing me what I’ve been missing all these years. Because Hannah made me smile when I thought I’d packed the notion of happiness away with my wedding album.

She was only supposed to be the nanny, but she’s so much more.

The day my wife left should have been the worst day of my life, but it wasn’t. It was when Hannah walked away, taking my heart with her.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

It started with “I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with the nanny…” damn if I couldn’t not read it.

A Little Too late featured Charlie from A Thousand Letters, a book that I adored. That single dad, totally lost when it came to raise his kids. For a long time, totally blindsided or in denial about his life, workaholic, but trying to provide the best for his family, everything for making up the most times. Oh my if I don’t love some single dad romance…

The two main characters, Charlie and Hannah were at the time of their lives when they wanted a fresh start, a bit lost but managing to keep afloat. When these two met, it was like these two recognized in each other but their situation was definitely messy and well a relationship off-limits.

Charlie wasn’t the perfect guy, trying too hard to protect his kids, always a little too late. His life was a lie, he was betrayed by his wife, lonely, but trying to make things better and to be the father they should have, to fight for his family, to make his kids happy.

Hannah, in spite of her young age was quite wise. At ease with kids, she was a Sunshine, the opposite of Charlie’s darkest side. Bright, a breath of fresh air, the unexpected in this mess. As much as she seemed to be perfect, she was as tormented as he was. Far away from home, trying to find a meaning in life.

If their lives weren’t already a mess, it got messier when their hearts got along the way. I liked the slow burn romance and tension between these two.

As much as the kids connected instantly with Hannah, with such easiness and naturally, I wished more moments all together, when I felt like the kids were put in the background to give place to Charlie and Hannah’s story. I wanted more interaction to see them as a real family, not the nanny and the family. Even if this feeling faded away very quickly, it could have strengthen their bond to me.

Overall, I fell for Charlie and his family, when you read their story, you know that it’s never too late to finally find love and a home.
