You know the story.
Boy meets girl, they fall in love, two kids, white picket fence.
This isn’t that story.

This is more like . . .
Man meets woman. Man sleeps with woman.
Man meets another woman, sleeps with her.
And so on. You get the idea.

I own a small boutique hotel in New Orleans, the Kingston. I’ve seen men do some stupid stuff in the name of the woman they love, or at least the woman they love for the night.

That’s not me. I’m always in control. You’d be surprised how much you can get away with on just good manners and a smile. It’s the only way to keep my secrets safely locked away.

And my smile hides a lot. Until her.

She turns me down flat. Playing hard to get is my favorite game. It’s the thrill of the chase.

Only problem is, I think it’s me that’s getting caught.

Excerpt:

Dr. Lorraine laughs and pulls out her prescription pad.  Scribbling something, she turns it to me.  The title reads: The sex diet.
I bust out laughing.  “You’re writing me a sex prescription.”
“Sort of,” she says.  “You ever gone on a diet before?”
“No.”
“The thing with diets is, you usually start off strict.”
How did I know that?”
“No touching by either party, not even kissing.”
“Wait, not even a hand job?” I ask.
“You’ve got your own hands.  Use them.”
She writes jerking off on her script pad, then puts a checkmark beside it.  This is the craziest shit.
“Once a day as needed,” she says, writing that down.
“I’ll never make it.”
“How many times do you want?” she asks.
“At least twice, morning and before bed.”
She shakes her head.  “Okay, twice a day,” she says and points her pencil at me.  “That’s it.”
“I really don’t think I need . . .”
“You won’t be released from therapy until I’m satisfied you’ve completed this,” she says.
She has me by the balls, and she knows it.  I can’t believe I’m being forced to agree to this, but what choice do I have?  “I haven’t had sex in a couple days.  Can I get credit for that?”
“No,” she laughs out.  “Start fresh today.”
“Porn?”
“What about it?”
“Can I use it?” I ask.
“You don’t have enough memories to sustain you?” she asks.
“Good point.”
She gets to her feet and sticks out her hand.  “Good luck.”
Shaking her hand and smiling, I’m sure I’ve got this.
I bite the inside of my mouth, realizing the old lady has tricked me.  It’s Thursday.  I’m not seeing her again until Tuesday.
That’s five days!  Shit, what have I done?

To The Fall was once again a surprise. I’m a huge fan of Prescott Lane’s words, writing stories about heavy contents, with always such upfront and sincere way, providing a story that would, I’m telling not leave you indifferent. The author has definitely way with words, the ones that could get you, right in the feels.

A story told by a male’s POV? Sign me in. I met Pierce in Toying With Her, and he intrigued me. I knew he had so much to tell, and it was more that I would have expected. The way of telling his story was as much as fun, sweet as much as shattering. I can’t tell you much about that, because it’s something readers should experience but your heart is going to break a little, following Pierce in his journey, baring his soul, revealing all the layers. Damn if i wasn’t heartbroken. There’s no one like Pierce, and his POV was authentic and blatant. His voice was shown and I have to say I could keep reading about this mind for ages.

Pierce is the epitome of the playboy, take it or leave it, success in his business, a king that would fall from his throne. He had to work on himself, let just say he won’t succeed at first. Here’s come the journey where the guy was not only gonna met his match but also being faced to the reality, truth of his life. Never expecting to show his true colors or having the shadow of his past haunting him, consuming him.

A man lying to himself, drowning into a sea of women until he met the one that would be his undoing. He had flaws and didn’t hide it, he was going to fail a lot, and he was falling a lot. I had to admit that I didn’t like him much at the beginning, his ways of always failing just bothered me, but the more I learned about him, the more I found him endearing, making me fall in love.

I couldn’t not mention Sutton, who met Pierce not at the right time. When you have a male character that takes a lot of space and overwhelming, I’m scared about the heroine, about his place in their story, or being overshadowed by his presence. And once again I was surprised. She might be strong, independent and badass, but it was the way she could stand up and putting him in his place, or not falling for his auto destructive ways to push everyone away.

I was so glad to read about him. His story was so poignant, hilarious at times, there was something in that story, the turning events, how the plot was settled. I didn’t know where the author was leading us.

The truth is, it took me some time to get along in the story and mostly to connect with Pierce, he made me angry, gave me whiplash at times, I was falling into a pattern and I didn’t know if I would continue or not. But I wanted to know the end to the story and I kept going.

That story was more than meet the eye, scratching the surface, watching the characters evolved, getting caught into deep scars, a bit introspective, and in a way I could understand at some extent Pierce’s actions. Of course, I couldn’t excuse his past actions but I liked to read about tormented and flawed characters, who had sometimes the best stories to tell.

I might have some issues about some things, or truths that I would have loved to be revealed. Some people would have cringed at this ending but it was perfect to me. It wasn’t the end but the beginning of a new life.
