A royal forbidden romance between a king and his children’s nanny with a strong hint of angst and sexual tension.
King Aksel seemed cold-hearted man, lonely and a bit overwhelmed with his daughters. A king who knew loss and tragedies, secrets and lies. Living in the dark for so long until he met Aurora, his nanny’s daughters. A ray of sunlight taken him aback and hopeless.
I can’t not say that these two were so damn frustrating, especially Aksel switching mood like changing clothes, but I understood the struggle. Feeling he’s never felt before, not even for his wife. Appearances were definitely deceiving and once you scratch beyond the surface, you could find the real man, hidden behind a cold beauty.
Aurora was just brave and managed to do her job, giving love and joy to Aksel’s daughters. She might have experience with royalty but she had this little thing that made her special, a kindness and genuineness that immediately won everyone over. The king might have been sold from the beginning but he was fighting so hard and their interactions turned quickly into passionate arguing, the air charged between hate and love.
This forbidden romance of royal proportions was well-rounded, the slow burn romance melting greatly with this strong hint of sexual tension. I enjoyed the banter and interactions between the royal family and Aurora never felt forced and I could feel how effortless to fall for her charms. How this family cared for each other, protecting themselves.
I appreciated not to be overwhelmed by the drama that could have been overstepping into Aurora and Aksel’s journey. It was focused on the main characters feelings and finding their match in a way they would have ever imagined.
