I’m not too proud to admit that finding Mr. Right involves swiping right. Right? Welcome to dating in avocado toastland.

Here I am, on my first blind date, ever, courtesy of a smartphone app and my two annoying best friends.

So what is Chris “Fletch” Fletcher doing, walking across the room, looking at his phone like he’s pattern matching a picture to find a real person he’s never met before?

Oh.

Oh, no.

The guy I drop-kicked in seventh grade cannot be my blind date. The guy who earned me this infernal nickname.

That’s right.

Feisty.

More from New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent as Fiona “Feisty” Gaskill gets her chance at love – drop-kick included.

PAPERBACK

Excerpt

“Fletch,” I start, walking into my office, waving him on. As we pass by the children, they snicker and whisper, the girls more stirred up than the boys. We reach the office, I close the door, and ask, “Why are you here?”
“I came to see you because I knew this was your lunch break and you’ve been ignoring my texts and calls.”
“Maybe I need some space.”
“I respect that.”
“Clearly, you don’t.”
“Look,
Fiona, I’m not here to argue with you. Or to crowd you or upset you. The
opposite, actually. I realized our wires have been crossed and it was better to
just come to you, face to face, and say what needs to be said.”
“You couldn’t wait until I wasn’t working?”
“If you’d answer my texts and calls, I could.”
“Fair enough. What do you want to say? What needs to be said?”
“I would like to ask you out on a date.”

Outrageously funny and colorful characters, off-beat and so endearing!

I laughed so hard it hurts! Julia Kent knows how to write hilarious and entertaining  stories with a strong hint of romance that would melt your heart.

Fiona “Feisty” Gaskill was my hero like no one else, protecting the kids at her school, a bad-ass teacher with a heart of gold, but still trying to reconcile her younger self and the woman she became. When you got a nickname that stuck on her, and the one that gave it to you suddenly turned a permanent feature in her life, all bets were off.
Chris “Fletch” Fletcher, the one and only who have been kicked by her seemed to finally get this second chance could not be missed. Since then, their paths crossed again, and damn if the back and forth between these two went from hate passing to lust and turning into those mixed feelings. That man was definitely not the one she remembered, and when Chris came on strong, making her hot and bothered, but mostly confused, well be ready.

I adored their strong chemistry and entertaining banter. A kind of slow burn, when the main characters were trying too hard not to fall for the other but failing miserably. Fiona’s way to finally let it go and read the signs that she couldn’t ignore was interesting and delightful. I was so rooting for this passionate couple who might need some time to figure it out and I couldn’t put it down.

It was sometimes totally insane and unreal to read about those situations but so well written. In the crazy world of Mallory, Persephone and Fiona, anything can happen.

If you have read the other books about Fionas’ BFFs, you know what I’m talking about. If you adored this one like I did but didn’t get the chance to read the others. Just go for it!

The author’s quirky sense of humour really showed on this book and it was just marvelous! And that opening scene… just epic!

Next book, please!
