Meet Kat Savage
Kat Savage resides in Louisville, Kentucky with her three beautiful children, her hunky spouse, and two spoiled dogs. She secretly has hope of getting chickens one day.
By day, she’s an office manager, pushing paperwork and daydreaming. When she’s not at her nine-to-five, she’s writing. Or thinking about writing. Or preparing books and book stuff. Or quite possibly, designing stuff for other people’s books.
She was driven to writing out of a need to distraction and self-preservation after the death of her sister in 2013. Since then, it’s snowballed into a full blown passion she can’t escape. Even on the toughest days, she wouldn’t want to.
She writes poetry packed with real, raw, and sometimes ugly truths. She won’t lie. Her goal is to make you ache, in that perfect delicious way we often secretly crave.
Shortly after putting her poetry and prose out into the world, she turned to novel writing. Savage is a natural storyteller, getting better with each book. She tries to give the characters in her novels depth, whether they’re serious or comical, she builds them in layers with the hope that you see a little of yourself in some of them.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this story.
Hawk felt his life would change when he met Drew, single mother who didn’t seem to belong with his tattoo shop.
This woman captivated him from the beginning and her daughter has wrapped him up around his fingers. Every day, she managed to take more place in his life, being part of the Bird Eye family.
Hawk enjoyed his life, having great friends, owning his own shop and never being attached romantically. This man didn’t wait for time and his words. Drew made him feel a little too much for someone he just met but keeping his distance was hard. Tall, dark and handsome tattooed man seemed a little cold and distant but was such a softie on the inside, taking care of Drew and her daughter.
Drew needed a job to provide for her daughter. Her ex-husband left her without anything and this job could be a new start. Her boss could give her whiplash with his few words and his intensity which render her speechless. Her daughter, Ava, was such a firecracker, straight to the point and making all the people melting their hearts in the process.
I appreciated the connection between Hawk and Drew but also with her daughter. It might seem a little quick from how they went to friends to something more but it felt believable.
Hawk’s friends were great and I enjoyed how Drew and her daughter fitted so perfectly with this family; the one from the heart and not from blood.
As much as I appreciated reading their story, I felt like some transitions between some chapters a little abrupt, ending a part and then leaving me waiting for next and then going to something else. It wasn’t that smooth. I wished that Hawk would be more straightforward about some things because he didn’t waste time with words. But still it was just a little glitch but still hasn’t lost any of its charm.
This first installment introduced some interesting characters and I cannot wait to read the next stories.
