I couldn’t wait to read it. Slade and Paige didn’t start on the right foot. The angst and tension, different words and struggles, well I was ready for the fight. A hero who has totally misjudged the heroine in the first place and she was definitely not a damsel in distress, fierce and independent. Both with trust issues. Paige had to survive all her life, not relying on people and trying to provide what was best for her son. A woman who had endured a lot, experienced a tough life but was trying to find a way to make it better. Slade was kinda jerk, kinda sweet, sometimes hot and cold. Struggling with his attraction and pulling towards her. I enjoyed the storyline but it felt rushed to me in some parts. I would have loved to see more development. It was somehow abrupt. There were some inconsistencies and « secrets » that were a little dragged out. I was expecting something bigger. It had a strong beginning but it felt like it was missing something that would have strengthened their story.
